The wool is, I think, what makes these so outstanding. Many insoles are hard and slick and the foot slides around, exacerbating foot pain and instability. There has been a long running argument that an insole has to be hard in order to help you. I don't believe it and this has not been my experience. The layer of wool adds just enough cushion and makes these insoles especially effective. I hike several times a week and these are my go-to insoles.I bought these for my snowboarding boots. I have been battling heel pain in my left (leading) foot, to the point that I limp for days after riding.I have had one session with these and the pain is definitely less than my normal. I believe what I do have is residual still. These are also much warmer than what I had before, which was a pair of Dr Scholl's heavy duty insoles. I believe the gel pads were actually transferring cold through the soles, and the wool on these is far more comfortable. My physical therapist recommended this brand of insoles for me since I walk with my feet and needs slightly turned out. I am extremedy happy with the product. I think the more rigid support and correcting is helping me to heal some glute/periformis/hip and knee problems, and the extra shock absorption helps a lot when I walk on uneven terrain - like packed snow - which would normally cause an immediete flair up in my hip and butt muscles.I got the wooly hiker version because it seemed like the most versitile - I do plan on eventually trail running with these and I walk a lot on uneven terrain, live in very cool temps and do a lot of hiking.I so far cannot speak to how well they work with running or hiking. I am not sure the wool is really doing anything to help keep my feet warm because they have still been just as cold as ever. I did wear my shoes with no socks and the wool seemed to be better with that than other none-wool insoles I have. The other huge benefit from these insoles is that I can use them while SNOWBOARDING! I did not think that they would fit, since my snowboard boots are a lot smaller than my regular shoes which I sized my insoles for, but they fit in my boot liners and are actually AMAZING for boarding!! I just got new snowboard boots and was also worried that these would constrict my foot too much since the boots were not broken in yet...but about 10 minutes later the boots fit perfect and for the first time since I got my boots I didn't have crowded feet, AND my heel stayed in place much better. I believe that these insoles actually accelerated the process of breaking in my boots and provide a heel cradle that really keeps it in place!I'm not sure what I'm more excited about...walking on the these insoles or snowboarding in them!started using mid season and they helped a ton, control and feel of skies improvedPrior of ordering these insoles, I did some search and read a lot of reviews for various insole types from expensive to medium priced. I decided to order these not expecting a positive result. In the past, I tried different insoles from prescription orthotics to self prescribed jelly type insoles but did not know what exactly I needed – support or comfort. When these finally came, I inserted them in my Pajar boots that were unusually uncomfortable and could not believe the result. I suddenly could walk and it felt as if boots helped me to move forward. Never in my life have I experienced such a wonderful help from insoles. In the end, I learned that I needed proper support for my feet. Also, I would like to share what I discovered about sizing of these insoles with my existing boots. I ordered Power Step insole size 7 and they fit perfectly in my Pajar boots that also size 7. Then, I ordered size 8 (because some boots I buy in 7.5 like Merrell brand). Merrell boots have a good insole support but I was curious if size 8 of Power Step will be the same as insole in Merrell that is 7.5. To my surprise they were identical in size. I also recently bought Keen winter boots and ordered them in size 8. For that reason I bought Power Step in size 9 and they fit perfectly in Keen boots that in size 8. I am hoping that this information will help people who are trying to buy these insoles for a proper fit for their shoes/boots.Bought these for my husband's ski boots. Great support and warmth.Fit was perfect.I really like them. I think its because they have wool that they have more support. However my feet sweat more with the extra layer of warm and the socks. Anyways, I have great support with this insoles and they are super comfortable.I bought these to replace the Geiswein inserts for my Geiswein shoes. I have plantar fascitis and have trouble finding insoles and shoes that work for me. The Powerstep supports my feet so much better. I wasn't getting the knee pain that I was getting from the Geiswein inserts. It has an added bonus that it has the wool on top of the insole to help keep my feet warm in the winter. I assume it will help keep my feet cool in the summer, as the Geiswein inserts did that too.
